The research question

Commissioned by BGW, this study examines the media image of elderly care in relation to attitudes to ageing and the prestige of care professions. It asks how reporting presents staff, care settings and the situation of people who depend on care.

Why the framing matters

A study of media representation asks what audiences are shown, which voices are heard and what remains less visible. It should be distinguished from a direct assessment of care quality across all institutions.
